Affiliate Disclaimer
Transparency is one of our core values at VinylFlipper. This page explains, in full detail, how affiliate relationships work on this site, which programs we participate in, how commissions are earned, and — most importantly — how those relationships do and do not affect the content you read here. We believe you deserve to know exactly how this site makes money.
“Some links on VinylFlipper.com are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. This never influences what we recommend. We only link to products we genuinely believe in.”
What Is an Affiliate Link?
An affiliate link is a specially tracked URL that tells a retailer or brand that a visitor arrived from our website. When you click an affiliate link on VinylFlipper and complete a qualifying purchase, we receive a small percentage of the sale as a referral commission.
The price you pay is identical whether you use our link or go directly to the retailer. You never pay more because of an affiliate link. In fact, we occasionally share exclusive discount codes that can make items cheaper through our links than through a direct visit.
Example: You read our review of a turntable, click the link to Amazon, and purchase it for $299. Amazon pays us a commission — typically 3–8% of that sale. You still paid $299. The commission comes from Amazon’s margin, not your pocket.
Amazon Associates Program
VinylFlipper.com is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for websites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com and affiliated Amazon stores.
Amazon affiliate links appear frequently throughout our reviews, buying guides, and product roundups. These links are identified by their destination URL (amazon.com) or by the “Check on Amazon” / “Buy on Amazon” labels we use throughout the site.
FTC Required Disclosure: As an Amazon Associate, VinylFlipper earns from qualifying purchases. This statement is required by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and applies to all Amazon links on this site regardless of whether the disclosure is repeated on every individual page.
Not every click results in a commission. A commission is only earned when a qualifying purchase is completed within the applicable cookie window (typically 24 hours for standard Amazon purchases, 90 days for items added to a cart). We have no access to your Amazon account, purchase history, or any personal data beyond the aggregate commission reports Amazon provides us.
Other Affiliate Programs We Participate In
In addition to Amazon, we participate in a small number of other affiliate programs for products and services relevant to vinyl enthusiasts. The table below lists the programs currently active on VinylFlipper.com.
| Program / Retailer | Category | Commission Type | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon Associates | Turntables, cartridges, accessories, records | Percentage of sale | Active |
| Audio-Technica (direct) | Turntables & cartridges | Percentage of sale | Active |
| Discogs Affiliate | Vinyl records marketplace | Percentage of sale | Active |
| B&H Photo / Pro Audio | Audio gear, phono preamps | Percentage of sale | Active |
| Sweetwater | Audio equipment | Percentage of sale | Active |
This table is updated periodically. If we begin or end a partnership that meaningfully affects our content, we will update this page within 30 days.
How Affiliate Relationships Affect Our Content
This is the most important section on this page. We want to be completely clear about where the line is between our commercial relationships and our editorial independence.
No brand, manufacturer, or retailer has ever paid us to write a positive review. We do not accept cash payments for editorial content. Period.
A product with a higher affiliate commission does not get ranked higher in our guides. Rankings are based solely on performance, value, and user experience.
If the best product in a category doesn’t have an affiliate program, we recommend it anyway. Our readers’ trust matters more than our revenue.
If a product disappoints, we say so — even if we have an active affiliate relationship with that retailer or brand. Bad reviews are never deleted for commercial reasons.
Our ratings reflect genuine assessments. A 6/10 is a 6/10. We don’t round up to protect a relationship or boost click-through rates.
If a manufacturer sends us a product for review, we disclose this clearly at the top of the article. A gifted product does not guarantee a positive review.
Our editorial rule: We only place an affiliate link on a product we would recommend to a close friend who asked for our honest opinion. If we wouldn’t say “buy this” to someone we care about, we don’t link to it.
Sponsored Content & Brand Partnerships
Occasionally, VinylFlipper may publish sponsored articles, product features, or branded content in partnership with manufacturers or retailers. This is distinct from our standard affiliate relationship.
Any sponsored content on this site will be clearly and prominently labelled at the top of the article with one of the following labels:
- Sponsored — the brand has paid for the placement of this content.
- Advertorial — this content is written in partnership with a brand and reflects their input alongside our own editorial voice.
- Gifted / Review Unit — this product was provided free of charge by the manufacturer for review purposes.
- In Partnership With — this content was produced with support from a brand but editorial control remained with VinylFlipper.
If you do not see one of these labels, the content is fully independent and not commercially influenced. We reject sponsored content requests that ask us to omit our honest assessment or guarantee a positive outcome.
How We Test & Select Products
VinylFlipper does not recommend products based on affiliate availability. Our selection and testing process is as follows:
- Personal purchase — the majority of products we review were purchased with our own money at full retail price. This guarantees no special treatment from the manufacturer.
- Long-term use — we do not base reviews on a single listening session. We live with products over days or weeks before writing about them.
- Comparative testing — where possible, products are tested against direct competitors at the same price point so our recommendations reflect real alternatives.
- Community feedback — we monitor reader feedback, forum discussions, and long-term reliability reports to update recommendations over time. A product we rated highly two years ago may be downgraded if a pattern of failures emerges.
- Review unit policy — when manufacturers offer review units, we accept them only under the condition that we retain full editorial freedom, including the right to publish a negative review. We always disclose when a unit was provided for free.
Price Accuracy & Product Availability
Prices displayed on VinylFlipper.com are provided for reference only. Retail prices change frequently, and the price shown in an article may not reflect the current price at the time you visit.
We do our best to update pricing information regularly, but we make no guarantee that the price shown on our site matches the price shown on the retailer’s page. Always verify the current price on the retailer’s website before making a purchase decision.
Similarly, product availability can change. Items we have reviewed and linked to may become discontinued, out of stock, or replaced by newer models. If you find a broken or outdated link on our site, please let us know at info@vinylflipper.com and we will update it promptly.
Note: VinylFlipper earns no commission on products that are out of stock or unavailable. We have no financial incentive to send you to a page where you cannot complete a purchase — we want you to find what you’re looking for.
FTC Compliance & Legal Disclosure
The United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires that websites clearly disclose any material connection between a content creator and the brands or products they recommend. This includes affiliate commissions, gifted products, free services, and sponsored arrangements.
VinylFlipper complies fully with the FTC’s Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255). In practice, this means:
- This affiliate disclaimer page is accessible from every page of the website via our footer.
- Individual articles that contain a significant number of affiliate links include an inline disclosure at or near the top of the article.
- Sponsored or gifted content is labelled as described in Section 05.
- Our social media posts that include affiliate links or promotional content are disclosed with #ad, #sponsored, or equivalent labels as required.
If you believe any content on our site fails to meet these disclosure standards, please contact us immediately. We take compliance seriously and will investigate and correct any oversight.
For international readers: Similar disclosure requirements exist in many other jurisdictions, including the UK (ASA/CAP codes), EU consumer protection directives, and Australian ACCC guidelines. We apply the same disclosure standards globally, not just for U.S. readers.
How Affiliate Revenue Supports This Site
VinylFlipper is entirely self-funded. We do not have venture capital backing, corporate ownership, or external investors. The site is kept alive by a combination of affiliate commissions and, occasionally, sponsored content.
Affiliate revenue pays for web hosting, software subscriptions, the turntables and cartridges we buy to test, and the time our team spends researching, writing, and maintaining over 500 guides. Without it, the site could not exist in its current form.
How you can support us for free: If you find our content useful and plan to buy something we’ve recommended, using our affiliate link before you check out costs you nothing and helps us keep the lights on. We appreciate it more than you know.
You are never under any obligation to use our links. If you prefer to buy directly from the retailer, we fully respect that choice. Our goal is always to give you the best information possible — what you do with it is entirely up to you.
Changes to This Disclaimer
We review and update this affiliate disclaimer whenever we add or remove affiliate programs, change our editorial policies, or when legal requirements change. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects when the most recent meaningful change was made.
We encourage you to revisit this page periodically, especially if you are a regular reader who relies on our recommendations. Your continued use of VinylFlipper.com constitutes acceptance of the current version of this disclaimer.
Questions About Our Affiliate Relationships?
